Abdallah Mubiru and his technical team named a team of 18 players that will face Somalia on Saturday in the 2020 CHAN qualifiers.
Initially, 30 players were summoned for preparations by Mubiru and the Police tactician spent over a week with most of the players.
Only 7 KCCA FC player who were taking part in the CECAFA Kagame Cup, were absent from training in the first week, returning three days before the final 18 was named.
On Tuesday, inside sources revealed that Nicholas Kasozi and Filbert Obenchan were the first players to be dropped despite not featuring in any of the training sessions.
Five more players were then dropped before the build-up game against Proline FC on Wednesday afternoon.
The players who did not get a chance to feature in the stalemate with Proline were Keni Saidi, Joel Mutakubya, Kigozi Samson Andrew, Odong Johnson and Owor David, taking the number to 23.
However, it was revealed that only 18 players qould travel to Djibouti, prompting Mubiru to trim his squad further.
The next casualties included, Yasin Mugabi, Disan Galiwango, Nelson Ssenkatuka, Yusuf Ssozi and Ashraf Mandela.
The Cranes have trained for 10 days, playing three build-up games.
They defeated URA FC 1-0, lost 0-1 to Kitara and then drew 0-0 with Proline FC.
After the draw with Prolince, Mubiru claimed his team was ready to face Somalia.
The team of 18 players and 13 officials are understood to have departed for Djibouti in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
The 31 man contingent will have FUFA Executive Committee Member Kalyebara David Mukidi as the Leader of Delegation while National teams’ Officer Paul Mukatabala travelled in advance on Wednesday morning to plan for the team’s arrival.
