MBALE – Wakiso Giants have moved closer to gaining promotion to the top tier following an 8th win of the season.

The Purple Sharks who are yet to lose a game this season, defeated Kataka FC 2-1 at the CRO Stadium in Mbale on Thursday.

Karim Ndugwa put Ibrahim Kirya’s side in front on 32 minutes but his strike was soon cancled out by Nasur Mandwara four minutes later.

With 21 minutes of the 90 to play, Ivan Kiwewa struck for Wakiso who later held on to win the game.

The win sees Wakiso move onto 29 points from 13 games. They are now six points ahead of second placed Kyetume who could only manage a 0-0 draw away to JMC Hippos on the same day.

Elsewhere in the Elgon Group, Doves All Stars was beaten at home by Light SS. UPDF were 2-0 winners away to Amuka Bright Stars.

In Rwenzori, Bumate lost 2-0 at home to Kansai Plascon while Dove FC won 2-1 against Ntinda United.

Action in the Big League continues on friday with Proline hosting Kireka United at Lugogo while Kira and Kitara face off at Namboole.
