LUGOGO – KCCA FC have made a major breakthrough in their running pursuit of SC Villa youngster Nicholas Kasozi, according to reliable reports.

Protracted talks between the players’ entourage and KCCA FC are reported to be at an advanced stage with a deal believed to be in excess of Shs 50m set to be struck.

It is also reported that Kasozi’s representatives refused to waive on their commission and threatened to quit negations if KCCA FC refused to meet their demands. However, it seems a compromise has been found between the two parties.

While the sum of the money quoted seems to be exorbitant, Mike Mutebi is reported to have ordered his bosses to do whatever they could to get the promising youngster to Lugogo.

Kasozi, who was one of if not the standout performer as SC Villa relinquished their title bid to eventual winners Vipers SC in the last few weeks of the season, has been among the most coveted footballers across the local divide.

Vipers recruitment team were noted admirers of the youngster, as were URA FC whilst his entourage thought of him going semi-professional but interest from Uganda’s CAF Champions League representatives proved to be strongest.

It is reported the allure to work with Mike Mutebi- whose reputation to develop promising youngsters is well-documented, swung Kasozi towards choosing the Yellow boys.

The former Synergy FC midfielder is much vaunted by football commentators as one of the best deep lying play-makers currently in local football. Only Vipers SC‘s captain Tadeo Lwanga is talked of in same realms.

When the transfer materializes, kasozi will become the latest in the line of SC Villa players to swap the embattled 16 record League winners for arch rivals KCCA FC. Defender Bernard Muwanga and adroit midfielder Allan Kyambade are the other two.

Kasozi’s arrival will have a knock-on effect on to Isaac Kirabira, who by the end of last season had found playing time hard to come by. The prospect of a midfield trio with Kasozi playing alongside the gifted pair of Gift Ali and Sadam Juma is a tantalizing one.
