KCCA FC remained on course for another league and cup double as they defeated Kitara FC 1-0 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup fan played on Saturday Evening.
With the Kasasiro boys still in the running for a third league title on the trot as they seat four points adrift of leaders SC Villa, they overcame a spirited Kitara side to advance to the semi finals of the cup.
In-from striker Muhammad Shaban scored the only goal of the game after 10 minutes of play to take his tally to two goals in as many matches after also scoring in the 1-1 away to Onduparaka in the league on Tuesday.
The reigning champions showed that wanted it more from the on set and the goal was not a surprise to the hundreds that turned up.
“We had descent but unfortunately the result does not reflect it, said KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi after the game.
“We would have sored more goals but we couldn’t unfortunately.
“Goal scoring has become an issue for us of late and we don’t know what to do about it.
“Am happy about the way we played because this game gives us a clear picture ahead of our next fixture in the league against URA.
On some of the players that are used less frequently in the league but continue featuring prominently in the cup, Mutebi had this to say.
“Am happy with some of my cap players like Okwalinga(Solomon) who i think had a good game and hopefully they can be vital in the league too in the near future.
The Stanbic Uganda Cup resumes on Sunday, 22-04-2018 when giant killers KIT host SC Villa at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.
The other two remaining games will be played next weekend with the remaining four teams all in action.
The winner of the cup this year will bag 30 million shillings while the losing finalists pocket 20 million.
KCCA return to action in Tuesday as they host URA FC at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.
