FOOTBALL–After years of consistent cries for clubs and the general public, FUFA has finally introduced prize money for the league and cup competitions across the country.
The list of sums of money was published by the federation last night and availed to the general public and will be awarded to the different successful clubs effective the current 2017/18 seson.
Ten different competitions will be sharing a sum of Shs406 million at the end of the season in a move that may see the Ugandan football take the right step in the right direction.
The leagues and tournaments who will see their winners and other participants getting cash prizes include the Uganda premier league, FUFA Drum, Uganda Cup, Women Elite league, Big league, Regional leagues, U18 Junior league, Women’s Cup and the Beach Soccer league.
The Uganda Premier league is the one that will receive the biggest percentage of the money as 128 million will be offered to its participants in every season.
The winner of the top tier will be getting Shs60 of the Shs128 million as the second is credited with Shs20 million.
Each of the 16 participants will all be given prize money at the end of the season with the relegated three teams sharing Shs2.2 million.
FUFA will also be introducing a Super eight tournament where the top eight clubs in the top tier will participate in a tournament at the season end and whoever wins it bags Shs30 million on top of the money they would have won in the regular campaign as per their finishing position.

Big league – Shs28m
Regional Leagues – Shs20m

U 18 Junior league – Shs7.5m
Beach Soccer league -Shs5m.
For the top tier(Uganda premier league), the prize money for each position has also been broken down.
The higher you finish, the more the money you will be given which will serve as greater motivation for the clubs.
