FOOTBALL. African Football governing body, Confederations of African Football (CAF) will chose new hosts of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Saturday.

The decision was reached upon during the meeting of African Cup of Nations organizing committee on Wednesday, and choice will be made at an emergency Caf executive committee meeting in the Nigerian City of Lagos.

With just three months to the 16-team tournament for locally based players, scheduled to take place between 12 January and 4 February 2018, Kenya was stripped of its hosting rights after failing to meet the African football body’s requirements.

Morrocco, Equatorial Guinea and Ethiopia all bid to fill the void but the later failed to make the shortlist after the government failed to provide a letter guaranteeing its support for the tournament , which Caf considers mandatory for any potential host.

For the fourth successive time, Uganda Cranes will compete at the biennial tournament having featured in 2011, 2014 and 2016 editions in Sudan, South Africa and Rwanda respectively
