KAMPALA — PML Daily (www.pmldaily.com), a flagship online news product of Post Media Ltd, have on Monday, September 9 entered a strategic content partnership with the Chinese news agency — Xinhua News one of the most influential media organisations globally.
The cooperation, which starts with immediate effect, grants PML Daily unlimited access to Xinhua’s news and digital materials — including video and financial news and rights to re-publish them.
A memorandum of understanding between the two sides has been signed at Post Media Ltd’s main newsroom in Kampala, Uganda’s capital.
Post Media Ltd Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Muhoozi presided over the signing ceremony while Ms. Irene Kiiza Onyango, the deputy Head of Content at PML Daily represented the Editorial Director Mr. Alex B. Atuhaire, who is away on official duty in Europe.
Xinhua was represented by Kampala Bureau Chief Ms. Sophie Zhang Gaiping and Mr. Ronald Ssekandi, the agency’s correspondent in Uganda.
Speaking after the official signing, Mr. Muhoozi said the content cooperation between the news agency and Uganda’s fastest growing online publisher, will keep expanding and deepening in others areas for benefit of both parties and that this is “a first step toward broader cooperation.”
It is hoped that the partnership will bring more news about China to PML Daily massive readership, be it about business, politics, culture, entertainment and other areas of interest.
While hailing the new partnership between PML Daily and Xinhua, Ms. Zhang, pledged to try her best to accelerate the process of cooperation between the two sides.
She said that she looks forward to further expanding cooperation with PML Daily online publisher because of the company’s professional approach to journalism.
Mr. Atuhaire, the PML Daily Editorial Director said:
