Aya’s Pearl of Africa Hotel dragged to court over failure pay for wines

KAMPALA – Pearl of Africa Hotel, formally Kampala Hilton Hotel, is in trouble after failing to pay for wines, spirits, whiskeys and champagnes amounting to over UGX51m.

In its lawsuit failed before the Commercial Court, Uganda Duty-Free Sales claims that between August 11, 2017, and December 13, 2017, supplied the above-mentioned drinks to Pearl of Africa hotel at UGX51,920,430.

The company claims that after supplying the products, Pearl of Africa Hotel through their agent acknowledged receipt by signing and stamping each particular invoice for each particular supply but to date, they have refused, failed and or neglected to honour its obligations of paying.

The company states that despite several reminders to pay the debt, Pearl of Africa Hotel has remained adamant to settle the debt.

The company shall aver and contend that it has continued to suffer the loss of income as a result of the hotel’s willful default

Through its lawyers of Mugume Advocates, the company is seeking for recovery of its monies plus interest thereon at a rate of 25% per annum and costs of the suit.
