KAMPALA – Events promoter Balaam Barugahare trashed claims that he registered a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) under the names People Power, a slogan commonly used by Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi and his followers.

Speaking on one of the local TVs, Balaam revealed that the rumour linking him to the said NGO was started by fellow events promoter known as Andy Mukasa of Bajjo events who posted the said allegation on his Facebook page.

In a notice issued through his lawyers of Muwema and Company Advocates on January 29, Mr Balaam said the allegations that he had registered a non-profit organisation that would exclusively use the word, symbols, colours and slogans of ‘People Power’ are malicious and intended to incite the public against him.

Balaam now wants Mukasa to withdraw his statement with an apology on the same page and also pay him 1billion worth of damages plus 50million to the legal firm that is handling the case.

However, through his Facebook page, Bajjo said he is ready to die but won’t reverse any word he had said.

“Mr Mwema, the 50 million you want from me, did I kill someone! And Balaam wants to run away with the 1billion you asked from me, “reads his Facebook post in part.

“Bajjo events source of first-hand information, anything bad might happen to me according to inside intel, Balaam Baragahura and a team of big lawyers is organized to put me down for giving you accurate information since I was the first to let you know about their bad move to down play our struggle, keep fingers crossed for me, we shall fight until the last battery even our souls shall fight, “read Bajjo’s other Facebook page.

Balaam through his lawyer Muwema and Company advocates, claims Mukasa’s post was not only false but also provoked a hate speech campaign on social media laden with ‘abuse and insults” against him yet he has never registered the words people power or the name and does not intend to do so.

The promoter’s Facebook page claimed that Balaam and his boss Museveni have already registered the people power slogan, the clock and the red colour and copyrighted them
