KAMPALA– In a bid to curb HIV/AIDS in the country, government has come up with a plan bring condoms closer to the public.
According to their plan, over 4000 dispensers and 200 condom vending machines will be placed in high-risk sexual places.
The director AIDS control programme in the ministry of health, Dr. Joshua Musinguzi, said they will be placed in bars, hotels, lodges, dancing halls among others places where most of the people go to relax.
The move is aimed at enabling shy people who would want to have protected sex easily access the rubbers.
This follows a new study that shows some people, especially men are shy to move into a supermarket and cash-in for condoms.
According to Mr. Musinguzi, the move will complement the medical interventions such as male circumcision, testing, and treatment of HIV/AIDs among others.
