LAMWO– People of Boo Goya village in Anaka parish Gem sub-county in Lamwo district woke up to a shock on Tuesday morning after they found a 23-year-old man hanging on a rope tied on a tree near his home.
Joe Komakech is believed to have committed as a result of increasing pressure to get married.
Jimmy Patrick Okema Aswa region police spokesman confirmed the tragedy saying that Komakech committed suicide after his parents put him on a lot of pressure asking him to find a woman to marry.
“We got the information today about the incident and we found out from the relatives that Komakech decided to kill himself after his parents said he should marry a wife since was old,” Okema said.
Aswa police spokesperson added that police in the area visited the scene and picked the body which was handed over to the family for burial.
In a similar incident, Albino Ojok, a resident of Lukoto village in Odek sub-county was also reported dead.
According to reports, Ojok decided to take his own life after his wife refused to give him money for buying alcohol.
