KAMPALA – President Museveni has revised the list of the Residential District Commissioners and their deputies following embarrassing errors contained in the one released at the weekend including names of critics and some dead persons.

Don Wanyama, the Senior Presidential Press Secretary, on releasing the new list on Tuesday afternoon said, “Just to let you know that the president, exercising powers granted to him by the Constitution, has made slight revisions to the [RDC list] list issued over the weekend”.

The president’s office was left in an embarrassing situation when the list was released at the weekend containing one of Mr Museveni’s vocal critics Mwaka Emmanuel Lutukumoi, the former Lira district RDC who quit his Job after a public showdown with Minister Esther Mbayo . Mr Lutukumoi has been omited from the new list after clips of his stinging criticism of Museveni on social media surfaced in the wake of his controversial inclusion.

Also named on the list were dead persons Mr Geofery Alum for Amudat district now replaced with Adiama Ekuju John Robert and William Aya for deputy RDC Pader.

The list also includes 10 Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) for the newly created districts which will cost government over Shs2bn.

Ms. Esther Mbayo, the Minister for the Presidency on Monday brushed aside criticism of her office for allowing the president to appoint a known critic saying — “it is in the powers of the President to appoint any person he wishes to work with.”

“The constitution grants him [the president] powers to appoint everyone, don’t you see minister for Kampala [Betty Kamya] working with him? She was on the wrong side but the president appointed her,” Minister Mbayo said.

She added that the president considers service delivery but not grudges between him [Mr Museveni] and anyone.
