KAMPALA–Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court has this morning (Monday) released on bail city socialite Brian Kirumira aka Bryan White.

Kirumira is accused of attempted  murder. He appeared in court with co-accused, Thomas Okoth, a police officer attached to Crime Intelligence.

Through his lawyer John Bulombo, Kirumira applied for bail and he was released on grounds that his sureties were substantial and the victim had been discharged from hospital.

Makindye Chief Magistrate Erias Kakooza, however, put stringent conditions, including ordering the city socialite to deposit his passport with court before being released on bail.

“You should not leave the country until the case is disposed off,” Kakooza said.

He asked each of the two accused to pay a cash bond of Shs10 million and their sureties to pay a non cash bond of Shs20 million each.

The case has been adjourned to January 31 for hearing to start.

It is alleged that Brian Kirumira and Thomas Okoth unlawfully attempted to cause the murder of Victor Bitwire contrary to section 204 of the Penal Code Act.
