KAMPALA – Culture world in Uganda is organising a maiden gala dubbed “My Culture My Identity”(MCMI) that is slated to happen on Saturday 22, June at Uganda museum.
In a press conference held on Tuesday 11 June, Lavinia Tuhimbise, founder of Culture World said that the theme of the event is inspired by the potential for the youth to find opportunities in promoting their unique cultural identities.
“The experience at MCMI will bring memories from everyone’s childhood and expectations for the future to make for an exciting and inspiring experience,” Tuhimbise said
According to organisers, the events comprise of a number of activities like bazaar, exhibitions, fashion show, poetry, mini tournaments, comedy and performances.
Therefore, these activities are to be enjoyed by the partiers of different ages and from different cultures.
Joram Muzira, a fashionista will be gracing the event with his models displaying different cultural fashions, styles and designs of different countries.
“We are going to merge other countries traditional fashions in appreciation for all cultures. You do not necessarily have to come in a ‘gomesi’, cultural wears can be unique and stylish too,” He said.
Afrigo band, a legendary music band in Uganda is also set to perform and entertain revelers at the event.
The proceedings from the event will be donated to a girl child organization ‘Kaleke Kasome’ to support a number of girls in providing their basics.
My Culture My Identity is an inaugural event organized by Culture World annually which is intended to promote different cultures in Uganda.
