Italian Embassy in Uganda launches fashion contest for young talent

KAMPALA – The Italian Embassy in Uganda in collaboration with the Cultural Association of the Italians in Uganda (CAIU) has launched the initiative “(R) evolution fashion show & contest for Young Talent Uganda 2019”.

The contest is based on the experience gained during the fashion shows of 2017 and 2018, within the framework of the programme “Italy and African culture”.

“The Embassy and CAIU will offer an opportunity to 20 talented youth to present their creations during a fashion show that will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on March 22, 2019.  The Fashion designers between 18 and 28 years of age will be selected through a competitive process based on prior presentations of three original works,” the Italian ambassador to Uganda Domenico Fornara, said.

He continued: “A panel of industry experts will evaluate the originality, skills and creativity of the designers and will choose one who will participate free of charge for three weeks and enjoy a fully paid trip in Italy at “L’Atelier Romano” – The lady bee”.
